Vertical job search engine Simply Hired had a big year in 2009, with expansions to multiple countries and a $4.6 million round of funding. Simply Hired does not charge companies to add their job feeds, but it does offer a pay-per-click model for sponsored listings.

We first reported on UK company WorkHound’s Twitter-based job search engine twitterjobsearch.com back in May, when it was added to equest.com’s free job posting network.

Since then, twitterjobsearch.com has entered into a number of other partnerships, added a video CV option, released an iPhone application, and made use of LinkedIn’s API to create a career management tool for IT professionals.

Established in 1997, seek.com.au leads the Australian jobs portal market by a wide margin, with a total of 3.829 million unique visitors in October this year according to Nielsen NetRatings. Parent company SEEK Limited, which also runs seek.co.nz, reported revenue of $209.8 million at the end of the 2009 financial year.
