A report from comScore has revealed the top 50 US websites for June 2009, highlighting job websites among those seeing an increase in traffic.
The report points out that the end of the US school year and a rising unemployment rate were contributing factors in the increased traffic to career services and development websites. comScore’s “Career Resources” and “Career Training and Education” categories were both ranked among the top ten gaining categories for the month: Career Resources websites grew six percent to 46.8 million visitors, while Career Training and Education websites grew 13 percent to 6.7 million visitors.
CareerBuilder LLC was the only jobs portal amongst the top 50 US websites for June. The website climbed 6 places to reach 39th position with 21.7 million unique visitors. The only other website linked to jobs to make the top 50 list was Craigslist, which came in at 16th place with over 46 million unique visitors.
These US based figures reflect a trend reported by comScore for France in its May 2009 figures, which showed careers service and development website use was up 45 percent on last year. Those statistics put CareerBuilder LLC at number six in the top 10 career services and development websites ranked by total French unique visitors.
Social media also had gains in June, with Twitter’s first appearance in the ranking at number 46 with 20.1 million visitors – a huge increase compared to June 2008, when it had less than 1 million.
Meanwhile, Facebook climbed to 6th position, up two places to its highest ever ranking. Social network tagged.com also grew, ranking fourth in the comScore list of top 10 gaining properties by percentage change in unique visitors from May 2009 to June 2009 with over 6 million unique visitors.
