Europe Jobs at 16-Month High
July 16, 2010 by Alice Allan
There’s good news this week for Monster’s European websites – the jobs portal giant says the number of online job opportunities in the region is at the highest level in 16 months.
Monster’s European employment index for June, which analyses listings on corporate career sites and job boards including Monster, increased by two percent over May’s total. The index was also up 12 percent year-on-year.
Monster says online job availability increased the most in production, manufacturing, maintenance and repair, from both a monthly and annual perspective.
Germany registered the sharpest monthly increase among major countries, while Sweden continued to exhibit the most positive long-term trend. Monster covers both these markets with monster.de and monster.se.
“The slight improvement in June is yet another encouraging sign for current job seekers,” said Andrea Bertone, head of Monster Europe. “In addition, the annual growth rate increased in June, suggesting that we are on the path to gradual recovery.”
