New Jobs Portal Aims to Cover Globe
May 13, 2010 by Alice Allan
Running a separate website for each country is a common strategy for jobs portals – US job seekers visit careerbuilder.com, while their Romanian counterparts head to careerbuilder.ro.
Canadian company BestCareerWorld is taking a different approach, hoping to attract employers and job seekers with a portal that covers 40 countries from one location.
bestcareerworld.com allows job seekers to search by country as well as job category, contract type, and keyword. Registration is not required, however users can choose to sign up to upload their CV or receive email alerts.
The portal has not yet outlined its pricing policy for employers, and at this stage – four days after its official launch announcement – the portal does not appear to have gathered any listings.
bestcareerworld.com’s position as a global jobs portal means it will need to compete with the major players in each of the markets it covers, pitting it against the likes of the Monster Worldwide and CareerBuilder networks as well as search engines Indeed and Simply Hired, both of which regularly add new locations to their offerings.
