Dice Acquires worldwideworker.com

May 11, 2010 by Alice Allan

Niche career website operator Dice Holdings has acquired the online and career events-related businesses of worldwideworker.com, which operates in the energy industry.

Dice says the purchase price consists of initial consideration of US$6 million in cash, with a maximum of $3 million in cash payable upon the achievement of certain operating and financial goals over the next two years.

Based in Dubai, worldwideworker.com boasts an international resume database with the details of over 400,000 registered job seekers. The website says two-thirds of its candidates are based in Asia, Africa or the Middle East, and nearly half have at least ten years experience.

“The acquisition of worldwideworker.com delivers on two important parts of our growth strategy: international growth and new vertical expansion,” said Scot Melland, chairman, president and CEO of Dice.

“worldwideworker.com is a well regarded player in the highly attractive energy sector. The global nature of the energy business allows us to leverage both our cross-border recruiting expertise and our international infrastructure.”

Dice acquired allhealthcarejobs.com in June last year for a reported $2.8 million in cash and the issuance of 205,000 shares. The company also runs efinancialcareers.com.au, clearancejobs.com, jobsinthemoney.com and targetedjobfairs.com.

According to Dice’s most recent financial results, revenues declined 9 percent year-over-year to $26.8 million in the first quarter of this year.
