Two New Job Sites Take On UK

April 8, 2010 by Alice Allan

Two new job websites have been launched in the UK aiming to attract employers with non-traditional business models and the promise of free listings.

The first is cvsearch.co.uk, which says it has “the intention of becoming the UK’s leading general recruitment website”. It operates in tandem with cvdatabase.co.uk – a job seeker portal which is currently offering a paid verification service for candidates’ university degrees.

“We believe this will really give our site an edge on the competition as it benefits both job seekers and employers,” says Sam Rawson, the websites’ managing director. “The benefit to recruiters are that they can rely on information the candidate has verified, and do not have to incur costs doing it themselves.”

In the three weeks since its launch, cvsearch.co.uk has attracted over 150 recruitment companies listing over 560 jobs. Listings are currently free, but the website will charge fees starting at £99 per listing after 30 April.

Rawson explains that a marketing campaign to promote cvdatabase.co.uk is also in the works:

“We’re not just going to blow our marketing budget on Google, we’re looking at all different avenues to bring candidates on board. In the next few weeks we’ll have promotion teams visiting most of the UK’s major city centres doing some face to face marketing, and that is just the start of what we’ve got lined up.”

Meanwhile, social jobs website superscout.com has also been launched during the past few days. Its creator, Stefan Debattista, says the aim is to “connect great candidates to great employers and keep them connected”.

Employers and candidates can use superscout.com to create profiles conveying their culture, personality, brand, and skills. While remaining anonymous, candidates add companies to their career network to receive news and job updates.

Companies can search candidates’ anonymous profiles even if the company is not logged in. Those that are logged in can “nudge” candidates to view a particular job. Only when candidates apply for a job do they reveal their full profile to the employer.

At the moment, superscout.com is in beta release, so all its services are free. The website states it intends to keep its service completely free for candidates, and not to charge employers to publish profiles or job ads.

There is no doubt that Superscout.com is heading in the right direction with their Web 2.0 mentality and that these types of job boards are the wave of future. http://www.dailyhrtips.com/2010/09/03/hr-blog-superscout/
