New Life for lifestylecareers.com.au

April 21, 2010 by Alice Allan

While the managing director of leading jobs portal seek.com.au has said the economics of establishing a niche job board “don’t stack up” in Australia, there have been a number of new websites joining the market over the past year. One of those was lifestylecareers.com.au, which says it is going strong after 10 months of operation.

The website, which has just been relaunched, focuses on flexible work opportunities across Australia and New Zealand. It now offers SMS alerts and a Facebook Connect option for job seekers, as well as integration with multi-posting system JobAdder for employers. Advertisers are also being provided with a set of analytics tools to track their progress.

So how successful is this niche job board in a market where seek.com.au has such a huge lead?

lifestylecareers.com.au business manager Leah Gibbs tells jobsportalwatch.com that there are now 3,000 people registered, a number she says is “growing every day”. In terms of audience figures, lifestylecareers.com.au is currently attracting around 7,500 unique visitors per month according to Google Analytics.

Australia is clearly a tough market for new job boards, but lifestylecareers.com.au does already have one achievement to crow about – a nomination in Recruitment Extra’s Recruitment Excellence Awards, received just a few months after the job board first launched.
