jobs.co.uk Named for Success

March 22, 2010 by Alice Allan

“Welcome to the best kept secret in recruitment” reads the tagline of jobs.co.uk, a recently-established portal for UK job seekers.

Contrary to its description, jobs.co.uk is making plenty of noise following its launch earlier this month. The portal went live on 2 March and has since been promoting its various milestones, such as the fact that it received 2,200 hits on its eighth day online and, on 21 March, that it had seen 20,000 unique visitors since its launch.

jobs.co.uk’s most recent statement goes on to claim that over 1 in 10 jobs advertised on the portal are receiving applications on a daily basis.

“One of the primary objectives of jobs.co.uk is to optimise the natural power of it’s domain name and use it to direct jobhunters to any relevant jobs on it’s site,” the portal explains. “As such it aims to provide quality ad response.”

The creators of jobs.co.uk say they surveyed both candidates and clients in the last half of 2009 to find out what they wanted from a jobs portal, and constructed the website with their specifications in mind.

jobs.co.uk offers a subscription-based model for employers and recruiters, and is also selling banner advertising. The portal currently claims to list 1,966 jobs from 255 recruiters.
