Nasscom to Create New Portal

India’s National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) is planning to launch a recruitment portal for people with disabilities by collecting the details of applicants, available skill-sets, and potential recruiters.
This is the first move by Nasscom’s newly-created disability advisory group. The group’s chairperson, Pradeep Gupta, told hindu.com the next step will be educating information and communication technology (ICT) companies about the needs of workers with disabilities:
“ICT firms have their heart in the right place. Now, we will work towards getting the brain part right. There is no lack of will, but issues like accessibility (technical and physical) may not have been thought about. Our aim will be to build that awareness.”
Nasscom, which was first established in 1988, is a global trade body with over 1,200 members including both Indian and multinational companies that have a presence in India. Its membership base makes up over 95 percent of the industry revenues in India and employs over 2.24 million professionals.
