UK Legal Site Compares Jobs

A new UK jobs website has just been launched promising a fresh approach to online law jobs.

comparelegaljobs.com allows members to find positions, access the social side of the website to share ideas and comments, and use the information in its career centre to boost their job search.

The website’s compare feature lets job seekers select up to four listings to view side by side. The results show the job’s title, required experience level, location, legal practice area, benefits, and summary description.

Job seekers can either send applications directly to employers or choose to have comparelegaljobs.com’s recruitment consultants progress the application on their behalf. The website emphasises that these consultants do not work on commission.

comparelegaljobs.com explains that outside recruitment consultants are not allowed to advertise on the website, and that it will only accept listings from employers. “[W]e aim to take all the best bits of using a recruitment agency or a typical job board and create a service that is superior to both,” the website states.

To attract employers, comparelegaljobs.com is offering free job listings for the whole of 2010. Employers are also provided with a micro-site to promote their brand when they sign up.

“The legal recruitment sector is long overdue for a shake up and that’s what we’re aiming to deliver,” comparelegaljobs.com’s joint managing director Tim Bates told onrec.com.
