CareerBuilder CFO Joins koda.us

The former chief financial officer for both jobfox.com and careerbuilder.com has signed on as chief operating officer at koda.us, an entry-level jobs website.

koda.us, which was launched in May 2009 and named an “Innovator of the Year” by New Orleans CityBusiness a few months later, aims to combine social networking with online recruiting.

New COO Michelle Slagle will also serve as the website’s chief financial officer. According to a statement on koda.us, Slagle brings almost twenty years of finance and operations management experience to her role, including five years at careerbuilder.com.

“I’ve been intrigued and excited by the fresh approach the koda.us team has taken incorporating the use of social media tools to online recruiting,” Slagle is quoted as saying.

koda.us, which completed a US$3 million round of funding in August last year, has been described by co-founder and CEO Jeff Berger as “more professional than Facebook but more personal than LinkedIn”.

Job seeking members of the website can set up a profile that covers their interests, strengths, skills, education, work experience and personal background. Companies can provide information in topics such as their past clients and achievements along with contact details and an outline of their business. Job seekers also have the ability to “wave” at companies to signal their interest in making contact.
