Two new mobile-based job search applications have emerged over the past few days. To begin with, UK specialist job board theitjobboard.co.uk has released an iPhone application it says is the first of its kind.

The application, which is also compatible with the iPod touch, will allow users to search for jobs and view industry news from theitjobboard.co.uk’s blog, which it established back in August.

theitjobboard.co.uk was created in 2002 and currently lists 20,628 IT positions across the UK and Northern Ireland.

The website is part of a network that includes theitjobboard.com, thesapjobboard.com, itjoboboard.de for Germany, itjobboard.nl for the Netherlands, itjobboard.be for Belgium, itjobsinthecity.com and itjobsforgraduates.com.

Meanwhile, US hourly jobs portal snagajob.com has joined in with its own iPhone application, which will allow job seekers to find positions within a five mail radius. Once users have chosen a job they are interested in, they can forward it on via email.

snagajob.com says it now has 19 million registered job seekers. It was ranked the sixth most popular US jobs website by comScore in June this year.
