linkup.com, a job search engine that covers the US and has recently expanded to Canada, is reporting a significant rise in the number of online positions available for US job seekers.

November online job figures have been mixed. The Conference Board reported a rise of 106,500 positions, while Monster Worldwide’s Employment Index for the US was down one point.

linkup.com’s figures are more optimistic. It states that the number of new job listings in its search engine rose by 9 percent in November, and that its total number of listings rose by 4 percent.

linkup.com’s data shows 34 US states saw an increase in the total number of new job listings. 475,301 new jobs were listed on company websites, up by 39,496 from October. The total number of jobs listed rose by 33,208 to 861,128.

linkup.com says its data was taken from 16,549 corporate websites across the US.

The search engine states it focuses on “hidden jobs” that are often not advertised outside of company websites, and emphasises that its listings do not include “work-at-home scams, recruiters or staffing agencies”.

linkup.com currently says it has access to 20,104 company websites and 408,734 jobs.
