November has been a busy month at LinkedIn, with plenty of updates to the professional social network’s services as well as a partnership with Twitter, and now a new face heading operations in India.

A recent press release explains Hari V. Krishnan will take up the country manager position to grow the company’s business model in the Indian market. LinkedIn says his short-term responsibilities will include focusing on user engagement, forging strategic partnerships, marketing and general operations.

Before joining LinkedIn, Krishnan was country head for MySpace in India, and he has also held jobs with Travelguru, Yahoo! India and Cisco.

LinkedIn says its Indian user base is growing at the rate of around 70,000 per week, with more than 2 million searches taking place on the network per week and over 30,000 groups formed so far.

“The Indian Internet has grown strongly and changed dramatically over the last five years with social media, e-commerce and advertising all beginning to come of age”, Krishnan wrote on the LinkedIn blog.

“Having witnessed the change first hand working with leading companies like MySpace and Yahoo! and start-ups like Travelguru, I see the need to share knowledge assuming a more central role in sustaining the growth. I’m convinced that LinkedIn will play a strong role as a platform for sharing connections and knowledge.”

Meanwhile, LinkedIn has been focusing on executive search firm and staffing agency professionals, releasing LinkedIn Recruiter – Professional Services Edition earlier this month. This is the newest addition to LinkedIn’s Talent Advantage passive candidate sourcing tool, and is said to provide an advanced talent search, enhanced messaging and collaboration features.

LinkedIn has also updated its navigation and is currently testing out the new design on some users. LinkedIn for BlackBerry is also in the works, scheduled to come out by the end of this year.

Finally, LinkedIn has just teamed up with Twitter to allow users on both social networks to synchronise their status updates.

After passing the 50 million users mark recently and announcing plans to double its employee numbers, it seems LinkedIn will be the social network to watch in 2010.
