Schibsted Increases Stake in infojobs.net, infojobs.it
October 19, 2009 by Alice Allan

Norwegian media giant Schibsted has bought out Spanish partner Primerama’s share of infojobs.net, increasing its stake from 75.2 percent to 98.5 percent. The deal also sees Schibsted take control of infojobs.net’s Italian sister portal infojobs.it, increasing its stake from 56 percent to 73 percent.
According to Schibsted, infojobs.net felt the impact of the weak Spanish employment market this year and its revenues for the first half of 2009 declined by 33 percent. As of the second quarter of this year, the website had earned EUR 37 million over the last 12 months.
Schibsted puts the number of job offers in the infojobs.net database at 95,018 and its unique visitor numbers at 5.1 million for September. The company says infojobs.it is the leading online recruitment portal in Italy in terms of traffic and number of job offers.
Primerama announced its intention to sell 12 percent of Anuntis Segundamano Holding, including infojobs.net, to Schibsted in February this year. The deal means Primerama no longer has interests in infojobs.net, but keeps 23.77 percent of its stake in Anuntis, which runs leading classifieds websites in the Spanish market covering cars, real estate and general goods.
Schibsted states it currently employs around 8,100 people and operates in 22 countries. The company has a presence in newspapers, TV, film, online media, mobile phones, books and magazines. Its turnover in 2008 was NOK 13.7 billion, and its 2008 annual report said its classifieds and directories were its fastest growing channel.
