Top US jobs portal careerbuilder.com has launched a new website covering internships, part-time positions and entry level jobs for college students.

careerrookie.com lists openings and also includes an advice and resources section, along with videos featuring employers and certifications.

In promoting the new website, careerbuilder.com has released the results of a “myth-busting” survey addressing the concerns of US college students.

The survey found college students were concerned no companies are currently hiring, that older employees would be favoured in the current economy and that a high grade point average was necessary to land a position.

In countering these ideas, careerbuilder.com pointed to results from a survey conducted with Robert Half International that found more than half of employers plan to hire full-time employees in the next 12 months, four-in-ten will hire contract, temporary or project workers, and four-in-ten will hire part-time employees. careerbuilder.com’s 2009 College Job Forecast also showed 43 percent of employers plan to hire college graduates in 2009, and that 55 percent do not have grade point average requirements.

The launch of careerrookie.com follows three other website releases from careerbuilder.com over the past four months: September saw the launch of missongethired.com for military professionals coming off active duty. Free talent community brightfuse.com was established in August, and in July careerbuilder.com followed the current green jobs trend with goinggreenjobs.com.
