New Look monster.com Stabilising, Up for Review
September 2, 2009 by Alice Allan

Monster Worldwide is the only major employment website that is stabilising, according to a Deutsche Bank analyst.
“While all three of the large job boards reported more declines in July, Monster stands out as the only one showing early signs of stabilisation,” Associated Press quotes Jeetil Patel as saying.
Patel pointed out that while page views for careerbuilder.com and Yahoo! HotJobs have both dropped over June and July, Monster’s have remained flat. Associated Press states that shares of Monster Worldwide rose 54 cents, or 3.4 percent, to US$16.41 in morning trading on 28 August, and that its share price has nearly tripled since its March 6 low.
Meanwhile, monster.com’s college student and alumni focused section, MonsterTRAK – first created when the website acquired JOBTRAK in 2000 – has been given a facelift.
As cheezhead.com reports, the reason for creating the new look college.monster.com has not been addressed by the website, however the section does include a number of new features such as a discussion forum, projects section and, according to monster.com, more positions and internships for job seekers.
Finally, wired.com has interviewed the director of the US Office of Personnel Management, John Berry, who touched on monster.com’s five-year exclusive contract signed with the Bush administration. Berry stated that the Obama administration will be “looking at all options” when it comes time to review the contract next July, and that social networking options could be part of the government’s future recruiting strategy.
