Daype Inc. Takes on Classifieds Giants
September 21, 2009 by Alice Allan

A new US based classifieds website covering jobs as well as real estate, electronics, cars, services, hobbies and merchandise has just been launched in beta by Daype Inc.
In introducing daype.com, which has been in development since 2006, Daype acknowledged the challenge of competing with “bigwigs” Craigslist and eBay, but argued that user needs are still not being met.
“Daype believes that the online classifieds industry holds huge potential and that there are many opportunities for innovation and new business models in this field,” said Daype CEO Andris Stinka.
daype.com users are first presented with a US map and list of cities to choose from. Each city page contains a list of categories, and the “jobs” category currently has 21 sections that include jobs wanted along with various employment areas.
According to Daype, some of the features that make its new website stand out are the use of pictures on results pages, an “easy access” menu to switch between cities, and the ability for users to create watch-lists and track their searches and contacts.
The website is currently offering free listings and user registration, however paid options are also available that feature listings and allow for extra images.
“[Daype] wants to become a significant global player in the online classifieds as well as online auctions field,” Stinka said. “Daype is soon going to launch country specific websites in Canada and in the UK.”
