wix.com Promoting Job Seekers
August 21, 2009 by Alice Allan

Recently featured on the BBC’s Click program, and creating a number of employment success stories, wix.com is establishing itself as a popular option for job seekers who want to stand out online.
wix.com is a free service, with a paid premium option, allowing users to create their own websites with a focus on Flash. The 1,022,617 wix.com websites currently online showcase everything from pets to t-shirt stores, but it’s the ability to create personal websites that has attracted many job seekers to the service.
wix.com is promoting its free website creation service as a way job seekers can advertise their skills and shorten the job application process. “When you make your own website, companies in need of employees matching your description can easily locate you and find ways to get in touch with you for your services,” the website states. “This makes the whole process of application less frustrating.”
While the idea of creating a personal website is certainly not new, the option for job seekers to promote themselves online in an original way has become more important as jobs have become more difficult to find. As workplace productivity expert Bob Kustka told king5.com, a personal website “gives you an advantage over your competition. You can create an image, a message, that your competition may not be able to create.”
