US based website urgentcareer.com has just received an investment of an undisclosed amount from iNovia Capital that it says will further the development of its linguistic profiling technology.
urgentcareer.com uses what it calls an “Algorithmic Linguistic Profiling Engine” (ALPE) to analyse a candidate’s transcribed speech, and then match the candidate to the most appropriate job opening. This speech data is taken from a 30 minute phone call during which the candidate is quizzed on career goals, aspirations, preferences, and style. urgentcareer.com says this data is then deconstructed and analysed against “32 key dimensions of sales success”.
As well as sales positions, urgentcareer.com is focused on jobs in business development and account management. The service is free for job seekers, and employers pay each time they hire a candidate.
John Elton, partner with iNovia Capital, explained why urgentcareer.com was chosen to receive their investment:
“We back exceptional entrepreneurs who are building game changing technologies. urgentcareer.com’s founder, Jeff Stewart, has started over a half-dozen companies, which combined employ over 600 people. We’re excited to be involved as an investor and also as a customer via our portfolio companies.”
This video from urgentcareer.com outlines how its linguistic profiles are created and why the website sees these profiles as superior to resumes:
