New Rural Indian Jobs Portal
August 13, 2009 by Emma Sorensen

Global jobs portal monster.com and ITC Ltd., which owns Internet based service chain for farmers, e-Choupal, have combined to launch a website aimed at rural job market. rozgarduniya.com hopes to help rural youth in India find job opportunities.
The project is inspired by the phenomenal growth in employment in the non farming enterprise segment in rural India in recent times. It aims to provide a job portal for job seekers in rural India where they can find relevant jobs in their own areas and where recruiters interested in recruiting in rural areas can find the right resources.
The portal claims to be unique and a first of its kind in India. It will have a bricks and mortar presence spread over 9 states and 40,000 villages through eChoupals run by ITC Limited, while the website is powered by the technology and experience of monsterindia.com.
The site is currently available in English and Hindi and has plans for future expansion into new areas.
The website is free-to-use for jobseekers, with employers paying for ads on a subscription model.
An article on livemint.com reveals the portal will be targetting security agencies, logistics and supply management, FMCG, pharmaceutical, banks, insurance, telecom infrastructure and highway infrastructure companies, in an attempt to increase the number of job listings.
livemint.com quotes Sanjay Modi, managing director (India, Middle-East & South Asia) at monster.com, as saying:
“We spoke to some big employers over the last 12 months and we got amazing feedback. They have huge expansion plans in the rural areas. So there was a void and we wanted to be the first mover.”
