A new US website, unitedwework.org, is aiming to provide job seekers with the ability to apply for multiple positions through a single application. The website, which is free for job seekers and currently free-to-list, states that its principal sponsors include 7-Eleven, Allstate, ADP, AT&T, Hewitt Associates, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Office Depot, Sears Holdings and Starbucks.

latimes.com recently spoke to Jason Kerr, founder and chief technology officer at QuietAgent Inc., which is behind unitedwework.org. “If we can stimulate an employer to make a hire now, that’s going to help get this hiring process back,” Kerr explained. Kerr told latimes.com that the website’s listings are taken from corporate websites, and that he hoped to increase the number of listings to 500,000 by the end of the week.

The website states that all companies will have access to free listings until the end of the year, while companies with less that 100 employees will be able to access this option until July 2010.

A statement on the website explains its evolution:

“In July 2008, a group of leading American companies created AllianceQ. The Alliance Members believe that in these difficult economic times, employers who are hiring should be able to hire without fees, and any job seeker looking for work, should have every chance of being found and hired.

To help achieve this, the Alliance Members approached QuietAgent, the next-generation job matching network that powers AllianceQ, and convinced them to open up their technology and job network to all employers and any job seeker looking for work, so that they may be found and hired without recruiting costs.”
