Canadian green jobs portal workcabin.ca has added a new niche employment website to its network: jobtrekker.ca. jobtrekker.ca is a free outdoor adventure jobs website where employers post and manage their own listings in areas such as eco-tourism, wilderness guiding, and camp jobs.

“Companies and organisations who use jobtrekker.ca will enjoy benefits with workcabin.ca,” said workcabin.ca founder Gregg McLachlan. “There’s no question that many outdoor adventure operators already have a green approach and that’s where we can help them with two professional niche job sites.”

workcabin.ca was launched in 2007 and states it lists between 40 and 60 jobs, internships and volunteer positions per month. The website claims to use sustainable practices in everything from powering the website to office stationery.

In a recent feature in Toronto’s thestar.com, McLachlan explained: “WorkCabin had to be green. We didn’t want to have a disconnect in trying to promote environmental jobs and also not taking action to be green ourselves. We didn’t want to be another dot-com trying to get a quick cash-in.”

workcabin.ca was placed at number nine on a list of the top 35 green job websites for June based on traffic details from Alexa. French website emploi-environment.com was ranked number one.

workcabin.ca shares the Canadian green jobs market with at least two other websites: goodworkcanada.ca, which was established in 2001, and the eco.ca job board.
