Monster Updates Job Search

July 28, 2009 by Alice Allan

powersearch

PowerSearch is a new search option currently in beta testing for monster.com users. The website claims it will provide more accurate, complete and relevant results for job seekers than its standard search.

PowerSearch works by bringing in results that are related to terms used in a job seeker’s search. For example, a search for the job title “nurse” will also display results including terms such as “RN”, “registered nurse” and “nurse staff”. The same pattern applies to a search by skills/keyword – the terms used for both criteria will bring up results related to that term.

PowerSearch also allows users to search by company name and the number of years of experience required. monster.com is currently inviting users to provide feedback on their search experience through an online questionnaire.

This new search option for job seekers follows two recent updates aimed at employers. Earlier this month, Monster released its performance based pricing model, Candidate Spotlight, allowing advertisers to preview candidates’ qualifications for free and purchase just the resumes of candidates that are qualified for their positions. Monster also announced a newly configured Talent Managemnt Suite for employers in early July.
