Monster Releases Candidate Spotlight
July 13, 2009 by Emma Sorensen

It turns out that Monster embraced a new performance based pricing model called Candidate Spotlight, just days before Yahoo! HotJobs announced its new Pay Per Candidate product in June, with the news sliding under the radar until now.
Monster’s Candidate Spotlight allows advertisers to preview candidates’ qualifications for free and purchase just the resumes of candidates that are qualified for their positions. It differs from Yahoo!’s model.
Cheezhead reports that Monster launched the pay-per-candidate model in five test cities late last year: Boston, New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Cleveland.
The new pay per candidate system allows them to purchase resumes for US$15 each, having viewed up to 20 resumes at no cost.
Monster explains the service saying:
“Combining Monster Job Postings with our resume database search technology turbocharges your hiring. While your posting exposes the job to Active Seekers, Candidate Spotlight™ quickly identifies qualified candidates from Monster’s resume database—sometimes even before Seekers apply.”
With two major US jobs sites exploring other business models it looks like the competition is hotting up.

Sounds like they are offering these candidate profiles in addition to the job posting becuase they are trying to get more money out of each job poster.
As a small business owner, Candidate Spotlight was “just what the doctor ordered!” I couldn’t afford resume search and I didn’t do job postings because they were too expensive and, when you are looking to fill a job, who can wait 30-60 days for a posting to close. I filled two jobs in ONE day! THIS IS PERFECT!
It makes me happy that Monster..I mean Ed has resorted to Guerilla marketing. The bigger they are….the harder they fall and the more it hurts when they hit bottom.
