History

CareerBuilder Inc. was founded in 1995 as NetStart Inc. The careerbuilder.com website was launched in 1998 with 16 media and interactive partners. Its resume database was created in 2000, when its network of partners grew to 70.

In 2001, careerbuilder.com launched its ResumeBuilder software and surpassed more than 5.5 million unique monthly visitors.

In 2003, the website expanded through international partnerships, and in 2004 partnered with the MSN Careers Channel.

US newspaper company McClatchy acquired its stake in careerbuilder.com in 2006, when careerbuilder.com’s college student and alumni job website CBcampus.com was also launched.

In 2007, Microsoft Corporation acquired a stake in careerbuilder.com, and in 2008 the website partnered with Facebook.
