ilumu.com Simplifies gumtree.com Search

The need to repeat gumtree.com searches for job advertisements in different locations in the UK can now be bypassed through search engine ilumu.com.

Usually, gumtree.com users have to do an individual search for each location they are interested in, as the website is divided by UK locations. Through ilumu.com, users can now search across all of the UK, or refine their search by region.

An ilumu.com search for “job”, for example, will bring up gumtree.com employment advertisements from all UK locations. Following one of these links takes users to the region specific gumtree.com webpage.

gumtree.com does provide a “change city” option to repeat a search for a different location, however ilumu.com involves fewer steps and allows users to search across the whole of the UK and by region, rather than by city name only.

gumtree.com currently has over 200,000 jobs online, and is the UK’s biggest website for local community classifieds including flat share, flat rentals and jobs.

gumtree.com was started in March 2000 as a local London classified ads and community site, designed to connect people who were either planning to move, or had just arrived in the city, and needed help getting started with accommodation, employment and meeting new people. It has since grown to include 60 cities across 6 countries and in 2005 became part of the Kijiji family within eBay.
