glassdoor.com Adds Interview Reviews
April 29, 2009 by Emma Sorensen

glassdoor.com, the US careers website that specialises in giving job-seekers a free inside look at what it’s like to work at around 23,000 companies, has just added interview questions to its offering.
The website operates like a career and workplace community where anyone can find and anonymously share salary details about specific jobs for specific employers or company and interview reviews describing life on the inside of an employer.
The website has had reviews and salary information posted anonymously by employees for some time, and the progression to interview questions (with answers) takes the website into the here and now, with thousands more jobseekers hungry for information and a way to seal that coveted position.
The inclusion of interview questions and process details for any company or job means users can search by job title or company, with interview questions and processes rated on difficulty, experience of the interview, and whether the applicant got the job or not.
Approximately 2,000 interview questions and reviews for more than 1,000 companies across a variety of sectors have been collected to date.
“Today’s job market is more competitive than ever, and being prepared can increase your odds of getting an offer, give you more confidence, and reduce pre-interview anxiety. The job interview is the front door of the job cycle and is the next logical step for Glassdoor to bring greater transparency to every aspect of our careers,” said Robert Hohman, co-founder and CEO of glassdoor.com.
He continued: “Glassdoor’s new Interview Questions and Reviews section allows people to act like a fly on the wall in thousands of interviews, gathering important insights from the vantage of other candidates. In addition to the useful information found in Glassdoor’s company reviews and salary reports, Interviews allows any job candidate to customize a study guide specific to a job opportunity, company and industry to get an important edge in this tough market.”
Like any website of this nature, its success lies in the range and quality of the user generated contributions. The thousands of companies covered include huge IT firms like Microsoft, Yahoo, Oracle through to retail, architecture, book publishers and many more.
glassdoor.com was founded in 2007 and launched its public beta in June 2008. The company has received $9.5 million from Benchmark Capital and Sutter Hill Ventures, which followed initial seed investment from Glassdoor co-founders Rich Barton, Robert Hohman and Tim Besse.
