careerbuilder.com Twitters Job Alerts
April 27, 2009 by Emma Sorensen

Online US jobs classifieds giant, careerbuilder.com, has introduced job alerts on twitter.com, placing it one step ahead of rivals hotjobs.yahoo.com and monster.com.
Twitter Job Alerts are direct messages sent to a user’s existing Twitter account that match their custom careerbuilder.com job searches. They operate in much the same way as email alerts, but via twitter.com.
To use Twitter Job Alerts you simply visit twitterjobalerts.com, enter your twitter name, follow @job_alerts, enter the kind of jobs you’re looking for, and choose how often you want to receive the alerts.
The easiest way to understand the new functionality is by watching this video created by careerbuilder.com to explain it:
It’s not careerbuilder.com’s first entrance into the world of social media and Twitter. The jobs website has previously used Twitter to answer customer enquiries, alert users to trends and careerbuilder surveys, and last year it introduced city- and industry-specific Twitter feeds. The company also has Twitter accounts for customer care, PR, and one called @CBSalary.
careerbuilder.com was founded in 1995 and powers the career sites for more than 9,000 Web sites, including 140 newspapers. It is owned by Gannett Co., Inc., Tribune Company and The McClatchy Company, and Microsoft Corp. More than 23 million unique visitors a month visit CareerBuilder.com to view the approximately 1 million jobs posted by 300,000 employers and obtain career advice.
careerbuilder.com also owns internationally branded websites in: the UK, India, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, Greece, Belgium, Norway and Romania.
